Futsal Team Tryouts 2021/2022

• Who:  Preferred age groups 2014 - 2015 & 2008 - 2009
• When: Friday, October 29th @5:30PM & Sunday, October 31st, 2021 @ 3:30PM

Depending on tryouts we plan to form only one team (max. 2 teams).  The roster per team will be limited to a total of max. 12 players.   Therefore, we are selective and will only pick the best and most suitable players for these teams and program with the idea to build teams that can compete at the highest level.   A futsal team is comprised of four outfield players and one goalkeeper (no offsides rule in Futsal) so we are looking for 1-2 GKs and max. 10 outfield players per team.  Selection of players will be announced within a week of tryouts.  Fees will be determined once roster and # of players are final.  When you are selected you will need to accept the offer, complete your registration package and submit fees to secure your spot by the deadline November 5th, 2021. 

We plan to participate in USYF Futsal Championships in order to not only be recognized and earn a spot regionally, but to shape the best team in Georgia to compete at a state, national, and international level.  We may also participate in local tournaments depending on demand. Fees related to each tournament will be determined once teams are formed and tournament location is selected.  A minimum of two Winter tournaments* will be scheduled once the team is formed and communicated ahead of time as this requires a larger commitment, planning, and travel.  

We also plan to play in a regional futsal/indoor league over the Winter period or organize some inhouse futsal/indoor games around the greater Atlanta area in preparation for the championships.  Game schedule will be confirmed at a later time, but you should be committed to participate from November until mid February, and plan to begin again from May to mid July for the Summer period (a minimum of one Summer tournament will be scheduled depending on Winter results).  Games will primarily be on the weekends (Fridays-Sundays).  Practices will be Fridays @5:00PM-6:30PM and/or Sundays @3:30PM-5:00PM starting on Friday, November 19th, 2021 to January 30th, 2021 (with no practices or games during the holidays).**

1. Alabama State Championship - Birmingham, AL - December 10 - 12, 2021
2. Regional Southeast Championships - Naples, FL - January 7 - 9, 2022
3. Regional South Atlantic Championships - Charlotte, NC - January 14 - 17, 2022
4. Regional Mid-Atlantic Championships - Richmond, VA - January 15 - 17, 2022

If we win one Regional Championship we will qualify and play in the USYF National Championship in Kansas - July 8 - 11, 2022 (this is a closed event and by exclusive invitation only).  "This is the final step in the Player's Pathway, and the ultimate test of individual & team and excellent opportunity for team development and identification on a National & International level.  A chance to be credited as a "National-Level" futsal program."

**During the Winter and Summer periods when a game or tournament is scheduled practice days and times may adjust that week.  Also, there will be no sessions during these dates: November 22th - 28th, December 20th - January 2nd, & July 1st - 4th.

Why Futsal?

Futsal is played in all parts of the world on all continents by over 100 countries with millions of players at all ages.  Soccer legends such as Pele, Zico, Ronaldinho, Messi, Kaka, Katia, Neymar, and Ronaldo grew up playing the game and credit futsal with developing their skills.  Futsal being one of the fastest growing indoor sports in the country is a fantastic tool for athletes' development because it places a large emphasis on technical skill in high pressure situations, forces them to think fast, pass accurately, and play intelligently which can be translated into the outdoor game.  The sport is a great skill developer and will give your player an edge over their competition without interfering with club soccer.   Also, due to the non-stop, fast play on a small field 5v5 it is an exciting game not only to play but to watch as well.
